AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian lawmakers have strongly condemned the British parliament’s attempt to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, vowing to take legal countermeasures in response.
According to IRNA, during an open parliamentary session on Tuesday, Ahmad Naderi, a member of Parliament’s presiding board, read out a statement criticizing the move by over 550 British lawmakers from the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
The statement denounced the initiative as “foolish and hostile,” asserting that the Iranian parliament, in accordance with its legal responsibility to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and the authority of the country’s armed forces, firmly rejects such actions.
It further claimed that the decision was influenced by directives from the “Zionist regime” and propaganda from the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), dismissing it as lacking both legal legitimacy and political justification.
Iranian lawmakers also criticized Britain’s continued interventionist policies, accusing London of maintaining a colonial-era approach toward independent nations.
The statement referenced Britain’s “dark history” of interference in Iran, asserting that such actions have repeatedly jeopardized the security and well-being of the Iranian people.
